ENTREPRENEURIAL DIMENSION OF THE CULTURAL AND CREATIVE INDUSTRIES

The Entrepreneurial Dimension of the Cultural and Creative Industries is a report prepared by Utrecht School of the Arts (Netherlands): “The abundance of studies on the CCI […] have highlighted the critical impact of CCIs on growth and employment, and acknowledged their great economic, social, cultural and innovative potential. CCI activities act as important drivers of ‘economic and social innovation’ within the sector but also outside the CCI sector”. The aim of the study is to provide a better understanding of the operations and needs of companies in the CCIs, namely small and medium-sized enterprises (SME). The intention is to describe some of the problems and provide recommendations.The study indicates specific challenges that could hamper entrepreneurship and prevent CCIs from benefiting from the internal market and the digital shift. It provides an understanding of the key determinants such as access to finance, market barriers, intellectual property rights, education and training, innovation, and collaborative processes.
